New Canaan, Connecticut – LBM Systems is pleased to announce a major new release of its AXIAR output management software which adds cross-platform output management software to AS/400 environments. By offering Unix, Linux, Windows and now AS/400 based output and information delivery software, LBM provides end users and application providers with the flexibility to deploy robust output formatting, delivery and retrieval software in the operating system of their choice. By securely ensuring delivery across network printing and output environments, AXIAR provides a vital management link between output (business application-generated and/or desktop-generated) and its destination.

By offering the same output management capabilities on Unix, Linux, Windows and AS/400 servers, we have eliminated customer resistance to implementing ‘foreign’ OS’s in their environments.” In addition to reaching into AS/400 environments, AXIAR 6.0 includes several other valuable improvements to how AXIAR ensures delivery of business critical output. Highlights of AXIAR 6.0 include:
- AS/400 Based Output Management Software Expands Software Deployment Flexibility: AXIAR is now available for iSeries servers. AXIAR is optimized for AS/400s by using PASE (Portable Application Solution Environment), the OS/400 subsystem in which AXIAR runs. PASE provides a Unix-like environment which is optimized for the type of processing required for network printer management – fast network access, high-speed CPU processing, and efficient job control.
- Single Console Control Over Multiple Server Installs Expands Operator Control Over Large Networks: a redesigned AXIAR Installer allows operators to manage multiple servers installs of AXIAR from a single interface. Print and output jobs can be moved from one serve to another in order to dynamically route jobs based on server and output object availability.
- AXIAR Format Windows Client Improves Document Security and Document Integrity: improves security and document integrity by delivering powerful formatting capabilities to desktop and laptop print jobs.
- Enhanced Network Printer Discovery to Speed Up Implementations: AXIAR can rapidly discover printers forms designers can create forms and configure AXIAR Format without being logged into the server. Unix and Windows servers use the same graphical interface.
- Enhanced Intelligent Document Routing Ensures Information Delivery: Advanced scripts and routines improve automatic document delivery to print, web, email and other output objects. Advanced, customizable user notification options ensure document stakeholders easily track and manage output flows.
- Format Composer Enhancements for Rapid Form Design: new capabilities include PDF color support for elements created in the Composer, accented and special character support and a new Program Maintenance menu.
Manage multiple server instances of AXIAR (Unix, Linux, Windows and/or AS/400 based installs) from a single operator console.
All of the AS/400 server-side AXIAR functions can be accessed through the AXIAR main menu. This program is called WRKAXIAR in library AXIAR .
